Pry the narrow shingle mold from the fascia using a flat bar.

F channel or j channel is used where the siding meets the soffit at an angle and where the fascia meets the soffit.

The picture above shows how the fascias that are fixed to the rafter feet tie into the barge boards that cover the outer rafters on the end of a gable roof.
